Brazil: Ceará. Law 16.962/2019 Creating the State Program for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders

The Government of Ceará decrees that the State System for the Protection of Persons of the State of Ceará – SEPP – is created, consisting of an articulated set of bodies and entities of the direct and indirect Public Administration and civil society, actions, services, plans, policies, normative acts, projects and programmes aimed at providing specialised, differentiated, complementary and subsidiary protection to victims and witnesses, human rights defenders, children and adolescents threatened with death and their families, civil and military civil servants threatened or victims of violence and their families, and other people threatened, with the aim of integrating and strengthening the Protection Programmes and the Reference and Support Centre for Victims of Violence and faithfully fulfilling the purposes for which they are intended.
